lady

there was once a lady who had a big farm.she grew chillies on it.her brand of chillies were very famous and hence costly.everyone suspected she was doing something different.some hushes voices spoke of black magic.she was a queer lady.quiet.she kept to herself.she like her chocolate dark and bitter.she added a ton of sugar to her coffee, she liked it sweet.

the famine came.all seem to wither with a curse of an angry goddess.but her crops stood strong.the hushes of black magic became whispers.she harvested the chillies.they sold at unbelievable prices.the rich and wealthy brought it.and they used it and then spat it out.the chillies were all sweet.they took it to her and asked "what injustice is this?? the chillies are sweet.you cheated us.we want our money back".she gave their money back.she was hurt and angry.she vowed never to farm again.she died soon.since then never a single chilli had grown in that town.

aham brahmasmi

that which Yajnavalkya sought away from home
that which Maitreyi wanted to know is
that which by seeking, all is known
is but the Self within

aham Brahmasmi

the world resolves into my senses
the senses resolve in the mind
the mind resolves in the "I"
and the "I" resolves in the Self
what is left to be known?
once the Self is known
what is left to be seen?
when there is nothing left to see

the Self prevails when you destroy the veils
of duality caused by the absence of vidya
it is not an effect caused
it is that which is uncaused
beyond the ken of causality

That which is to be known solely through Atmavichara

tweedledum and tweedledee

i am the walrus
said lennon
i am a walrus too
said bono
i need to speak to the walrus
said the carpenter
then you speak to me
i am the only star here
the sun has scared the clouds
said ringo starr

the oil was as oily as it could be
the gunpowder was dry as dry can be
you could not see a cloud
they were standing in chernobyl
no birds were flying overhead
there was no bush to rest on

if five minister with five interpreters
speak about it for half a year
do you suppose asked semolina pilchard
that they could drink clear wine with aq kahn
i doubt it
and shed a drop of blood

oy africans come and walk with us
so said paul
a pleasant walk,a pleasant talk
along the briny pool
we can not do with more than five
to give a hand to each

the oldest african dint understand him
so never a word he said
but winked his eye
and shook his hand
meaning to say
he dint care

but four young elephants hurried up
all eager for the treat
their skins were brushed, their faces washed
their hats were big and clean
and this was odd, because, you know,
they hadn't any head

and the four elephants followed them
one had big ears
the other had big tusk
another had a big trunk
and the other had 13 wives

the walrus and the carpenter
talked for a hour or so,
and then they rested on a chair
conveniently rectilinear
and all the elephants stood
and waited in a row

the time has come, the walrus said
to talk of many things
of eggman and van and yellow mother custard
of crabalocker fishwife and pornographic priestess
and why the sea is boiling hot
and whether pigs wage war

but wait a bit,the elephants cried
before we have our chat
for some of us are out of depth
and we expect a house,on the rocks
no worry said the carpenter
they thanked him much for that

a loaf of bread the walrus said,
is what we chiefly need
pepper and oil besides
are very good indeed
now if you're ready,elephants
we can begin to feed and grow

but not on us the elephants cried
turning a little black and wet
after such promises,that would be
a dismal thing to do
the might are always fine, said the walrus
can you ever protect maitri?

it was so kind of you to come
and you are very small
the carpenter said nothing but
pour us another glass
i wish you were not quite so dumb
i've had to ask you twice

it seems a shame, the walrus said,
to play them such a trick,
after we've brought them out so far
and made them rot so quick
the carpenter said nothing but
the ice is just too thick

i weep for you,the walrus said
i deeply sympathize
with sobs and tears he sorted out
those of the largest size and depth
holding his laptop he showed him the wells
before his streaming eyes.

oi penguins,said the carpenter
you've had a pleasant meeting
so shall we all climb eiffel tower
but answer came there none
and this was scarcely odd, because
they'd invaded every one.

"we like the walrus best," said the watchmen, "because you see he was a little sorry for the poor elephants".
"He ate more than the carpenter, though" said Tweedledee. "You see he held his laptop in front, so that the carpenter couldn't count how many he had taken: contrariwise." .
"that was mean!" said the watchman indignantly. "then I like the carpenter best-if he didn't consume so much as the walrus".
"but he drank as much as he could get," said Tweedledum. This was a puzzler. After a pause, watchman began, "well! They were both very unpleasant characters".. and then watchmen were shot

sad

one of the worst photos i have seen of late

sad

so much of poetry seems to ebb from poignancy.to explain that his girl informed that shes marrying some rich mr that her parents set up,a fairly unsophisticated friend of mine texts so.around three in the morning i should add-

i gave her a rose and told her i love her.she told me i need to think big. i asked what she wanted .she asked for a cauliflower.just then a vegetable vendor came by rolling his small cart which had just one cauliflower.he gave it to her.she took it happily and sat on his cart.he wheeled her away.she dint even look back.he looked back and gave me a grin.the grin stole my christmas.

i shudder to think what fairly sophisticated minds ,sharp ones at that, will come up with when they are sad.my guess is a simple one liner

tribute

am pretty late in doing this.a tribute to mr.kamal.the guy has finished 50 years in cinema.am not hero-worshipping,simply the most talented human to grace indian cinema.if i do start to write about him a million trees need to be cut.so i speak of a movie which i consider to be one of his best-nayagan.as a part time film critic and free lance journalist i had the pleasure of talking with the people involved in this movie

time magazine two years back compiled a list of 100 greatest cinema defining movies.the only indian movie in it-nayagan.directed by mr.manirathnam this movie is brilliant.to know what mr.kamal the actor is all about you need to picture this scene.there are riots.police want mr.kamal to be handed in.the old lady is dying of burns.mr.kamal visits her in the dead of the night.and he sees her and with just the facial expression and a hand gesture he tell you she knew him since he was five.thats what acting is about.tell the dialogue without the dialogue.

and when i speak of nayagan i do have to mention mr.manirathnam.nayagan is 50% his and 50% mr.kamal's.the first interview i ever did was of mani sir as he is called.it was for my school magazine.of many things he said-"films are like language.you either got a flair for it or you dont" , "the script of the movie is like god.they say it exists.but no ones ever seen it.you dont know if it even exists"

the ficci conclave was brilliant.says mr.hassan
"After abolition of Red light areas workers of the oldest profession spilled on to the mainstream, seen on every street.Hence, banning Xrated films only ensure that porn hits mainstream " practically brilliant that man is.he is so good at whatever he does.take a look at his daughters too.job well done sir.and since my only "follower" seems to be hindhi speaking,i would recommend these films which are mr.kamal's best-nayagan, anbe sivam ,virumandi. trust me seeing these movies with sub-titles is worth it

beauty

its beautiful when you can feel something in lines written in another world.

in bong:
Akashe jyotsna
Phuler pathe chita baagher gayer karam
Hridoy amar horin jano
Ratrer ei niraboder bhetor, kondike cholechi?
Rupali paatar chaya amar shorire
Kothao kono horin neyi
Aar joto door jaayee, kaashter moton banka chaand
Shesh shonale horin, shorsho khete niyeche jano
Taar par dhire dhire dube jaache
Shata shata mrigedaar choker ghumer andhokaarer bhetor

i know very little bong so roughly in the bard's tongue:
Moonlight in the sky
On the Forest Trail the Scent of the Leopard
My Heart is like Deer
In the Silence of this night, which way am I going?
The silvery shadow of leaves on my body
No more deer anywhere
As far as I go I see the moon bent like a sickle
Cutting the last golden deer-grain
Then sinking slowly
Into the darkness of all the sleep
In the eyes of a 100 does.

and something different in macedonian and just as beautiful-

this roughly talks of stojan's love for liljana and she dying when they were about to marry
